(US-IL) Illinois Governor Pritzker Signs DNA Data Protection Law
Illinois Governor Pritzker signed HB 2189 into law. The new law, Genetic Information Privacy Act, provides that long term care insurance or life insurance policies may not seek information derived from direct-to-consumer  genetic testing. The new law also prohibits direct-to-consumer commercial testing from sharing the genetic test information or other personally identifiable information about a consumer from life or health insurers without written consent from the consumer.
