* Dancing in Fetters exhibition | Australian Historical Dance
Dancing in Fetters: the culture of convict dance is a museum exhibition presenting the lost heritage of convict dance and music. It re-traces the origins of this largely unknown aspect of life in the early penal colony based on the doctoral research of Dr Heather Blasdale Clarke into convict culture of the years 1788-1840
The national tour will travel to venues in five states and territories across Australia with significant links to convict life. This project has been assisted by the Australia Government’s Visions of Australia funding. Thanks is extended to partners the Abbey Museum of Art & Archaeology and Bush Traditions Inc.
