Cemeteries come in so many styles ...and in so many varied situations. Most family historians/genealogists have a fascination for cemeteries. They see them as historical sites, a place to find answers and a way to honour those who have passed before us.

This page will bring you news of what is happening worldwide, the good and the bad... photos of beautiful, peaceful places, and the sad and the neglected, with many in between.

Most will be links to stories that I hope you find of interest. They will all be checked before posting but no responsibilty is taken for broken links or content. Please let me know if you find a link is broken. It is often a lot easier to read the articles if you use READER.. where available. The non-denominational cemetery was in use at the Main Brook waterfront between 1930 and 1951. After that, each religious denomination started their own.

As the years marched on, the old graveyard down at the waterfront was gradually forgotten.

Vegetation took over, headstones were removed. The only thing left to mark the site, was three trees, the only ones in the vicinity not cut down in the logging town.

Boyd had spent three years as a cemetery caretaker in Sydney and still had a "soft spot" for cemeteries. When she realized the condition it was in, she says it broke her heart.
