They challenge popular narratives of Australian history suggesting only convicts from Britain and Ireland were transported to Van Diemen's Land. The youngest prisoner, a boy called Joseph Levy, was just ten when transported for perjury. The oldest was a 75-year-old man who laboured on a road gang.
